What was the Challenge / Background of the Campaign?

The OMEGA London 2012 Countdown Clock is a constant visual reminder of OMEGA's role and heritage as Official Timekeeper for the Olympic Games. The challenge of the campaign was to launch the clock in Trafalgar Square.

To help launch the OMEGA London 2012 Countdown Clock.

What was the Solution?

Hill and Knowlton helped OMEGA to launch their London 2012 Countdown Clock in Trafalgar Square with 500 days to go in the presence of Seb Coe, Boris Johnson, Jess Ennis and other luminaries. H+K's role was media relations; liaison with LOCOG; athlete management; crisis preparation in advance and crisis response when the clock stopped the day after the launch.

What were the Results?

Pictures of the launch appeared in six national newspapers, including on front and back covers; extensive online coverage; H+K involvement mitigated the negative coverage after the clock temporarily stopped.
