Edinburgh International Film Festival presents a weekend of outdoor screenings of classic movies in the centre of Edinburgh.
Since 2005 EIFF has regularly presented the Film Festival Under The Stars, an outdoor, weekend-long programme of screenings of classic movies taking place on The Mound in the centre of Edinburgh. This event is free to the public, all films are rated PG, and programmed either thematically or with some link to the Film Festival (Back to the Future had its UK premières at EIFF in 1985). In the three times the event has taken place since 2005, it has attracted audiences of over 5,000 people each weekend.
Sponsorship of Film Festival Under the Stars will raise your brand profile and allows association with an International festival brand hailed as 'hip, bright and cheeky' by The Observer.
There are usually about 6 screenings over the weekend. Between the feature film screenings, we programme short films and trailers from EIFF and the sponsor's advertisements. As sponsor of Film Festival Under The Stars, there are opportunities for branding, sampling and bar sales and profile raising/PR. Films screened recently have included ET, Local Hero, Back to the Future and Strictly Ballroom in 2008 and The Pink Panther, Gregory's Girl, Breakfast at Tiffany's and Diamonds Are Forever to celebrate the Festivals 60th edition in 2006.
Previous sponsors of the Film Festival Under the Stars event include The Famous Grouse.
Sponsorship of Film Festival Under the Stars offers an association with one of the UK's leading film festivals, an international brand in celebration of excellence and diversity in film. EIFF has positioned itself as a festival of discovery and new talent, seeking out the most daring and diverse new work from around the world without losing its association with red-carpet glamour and mainstream movies. 'In a world now teeming with more festivals than there are days in the year, Edinburgh is marking itself out as hip, bright and cheeky.' Jason Solomons - The Observer.
